On September 17, 2007 Komen Maryland hosted "Strategies for Working with the Migrant Worker Population and Breast & Cervical Cancer."
The training was held at Caroline County Health Department in Denton, Maryland.
This year's cultural competency training focused on the migrant worker population. Our speaker, Amy Liebman with the Migrant Clinicians Network, offered an overview of migrant health, cultural competent care for underserved mobile populations and resources to address breast cancer and cancer screening for this population. This training was geared towards health professionals working in breast or cervical health who wanted to expand their knowledge and practice of working with the migrant population.
The next Cultural Competency Training will be in the fall of 2008.
